Built in 1989, remodeled in 2007 and again in 2023, the Alpha Chapter house sits at the corner of Second and St. Clair streets on the edge of one of the main entrances into the Vincennes University Campus.
The chapter house has 11 bedrooms, which can comfortably house 22 men. Each of the 11 bedrooms come complete with two XL long twin bed frames and mattresses, two dressers, two desks and chairs, as well as a closet. In addition, each bedroom includes a complete shower and restroom. Each bedroom is wired for cable television as well as the entire house being having wireless internet.
Ten of the 11 bedrooms are all equal in size with one bedroom, the Executive Suite, being twice the size of a normal room. The Executive Suite houses the current President of the Chapter. The Executive Suite has all the same amenities of a normal bedroom, but also contains a living space with kitchenette.
In addition to the 11 bedrooms, the chapter house also has a study room, complete with tables and chairs and a 50" flat-screen television. On the walls and in the book cases of the study, you will find several awards that the chapter has received, as well as an Alpha Alumni Wall of Fame. The study is a great place to relax, study, or hang out with other brothers between classes. With the addition of the 50" flat-screen television, several brotherhood events are now held in the study such as watching sporting events and movies as a group.
Across the hall from the study is a formal room, which contains the chapter's historical artifacts, a baby grand piano, as well as desk and sitting area for eight. The Executive Council of the Chapter as well as the Housing Corporation have their meetings in this room.
The chapter house also contains a fully-furnished basement where chapter meetings are held as well as brotherhood and social events. The basement also contains a full kitchen and laundry room as well as a bonus room.
On the exterior of the property you will find a sand volleyball court as well as an outdoor sitting area, where the chapter has several cookouts throughout the year. Parking is also available for the brothers that live inside as well as outside the chapter house.
Directly across the street from the Alpha Chapter house, on one of the main entrances into campus, sits the Sigma Pi Centennial Clock Tower. Built to commemorate the founding of Sigma Pi in 1897, the Clock Tower contains bricks engraved by various alumni and chapters of Sigma Pi.
The Alpha Chapter House and Centennial Clock Tower were both designed by world-renowned architect and Alpha alumnus, George S. Ridgway, '69.
